Dog Obedience Camp Canine Performance Dog Training offers specialized on-site training programs. We have a 3-5 week program called "Board and Train". This is designed for dogs or puppies with little or no experience at all. We also offer customized refresher, advanced, and dog behavior courses. A lot of my regulars take advantage of this program when they go away for long business or vacation trips. When your dog first arrives, there is a transition period during which your dog is evaluated and socialized. We introduce them to their new environment by allowing them to interact with other dogs and my family members. This usually lasts for a couple of days (some dogs who need some special instructions such as dog aggressiveness might take longer). Once the dog has had time to adjust to the new surroundings and is more relaxed, we go to work. We believe that the bonding period is very important for successful training. Training Begins: Your dog is given the chance to learn new behaviors in a quiet environment without distractions—just to learn what is expected of them. We want your dog to succeed and we give them every opportunity to do so. During the first few weeks, all the training is done here at our field. Our goal is to get a solid foundation in the basics: Sit, Down, Wait, Stay, and leash manners. Let the fun begin: After week two we will start proofing your dog by introducing him/her to different situations and distractions. This is the time when your dog applies all the things he/she have learned during the past several days in a different "simulated" real world situations. This is also the time we introduce corrections then immediately channel or switch the mode to positive reinforcements if needed. Obedience is Tested: After the proofing stage your dog is ready to move on. We begin to press on the obedience in a more distracted location such as a busy road, busy store (coffee shops, pet stores, toy stores, etc.) or any other place that has a lot of traffic.
